wet dream

last night i went to a restaurant that was straight out of my dreams. it’s called “kemono,” which means “beast” in english. it’s a small restaurant that serves various kinds of odd animals... sounds like a place i should own!!!

the menu is hilarious with silhouettes of animals such as crocodile, rabbit, boar, deer, ostrich, kangaroo, and camel! it was all in japanese, but i had asato to help me - she’s also a “curious” eater and took me to the restaurant.

my favorites were the camel, kangaroo, and crocodile. the camel was prepared with middle eastern spices, which was perfect! the kangaroo was really juicy and tasty. the crocodile was surprisingly a light colored meat, like chicken, but with a bit more flavor. i guess you could call it “the other, other, white meat.” my least favorite was the boar, which was tough and hard.

the deer was also good, i’ve eaten venison before, but it was much better raw. i like the flavor of many fishes and meats better when served as sashimi. for example, liver can have a funny taste and consistency when cooked, but when served raw, it only enhances the flavor.

it was fun eating one meal that knocked off so many animals i’ve wanted to try... but there are so many more to go... i’m looking forward to tasting my way through the animal kingdom!
